Soul Potato - The Home of Supreme American Comfort Food

We're sure glad we found this great restaurant offering delicious comfort food. When I say delicious, it doesn't get any better than this. Thank heavens they opened up a new branch in Robinson's Magnolia food court. There are times when parking is hard at their original home in Devour food park.

Watch the cheese in the Cripsy Chicken Cheese Melt (P190) melt before your very eyes. When that happens, your tummy will growl basically asking you what are you waiting for and why you haven't devoured it yet. When you finally do, you would have wished you got more.

The Country Fried Pork with Mushroom Gravy (P190) is huge. I can't stress how big their servings are. That's definitely a big plus for the customers. There is always the option to substitute the rice with mashed potato. The healthy conscience in me wanted the mashed potato. As expected, I ended up ordring extra rice. You can't avoid that in a situation like this.

I can feel the Shepherd's Pie is the dish that the restaurant is named after. There are times when I would prefer the rice for the meals and order this huge mashed potato with cheese and ground beef. Whenever I dine at Soul Potato, it is pretty much a given that I'm ordering this dish.

Just looking at this picture of the Hickory BBQ Pork Steak (P210) makes me wish I was eating it again. It is cooked to perfection and I would not want to have it any other way.

It is never easy to smoke meat but Soul Potato shows they are an expert and it shows in their Smoked BBQ Ribs with Mashed Potato. The ribs is pretty tender and yummy and I have eaten a lot of ribs from various restaurants.

Their Tomahawk Chops with Chimichurri (P240) is juicy and flavorful. Seriously, you're missing 3/4 of your life if you haven't tried this magnificent dish. My compliments to their amazing chef.

Their menu has all your favorite American dishes. Their Robinsons Magnolia branch even has chicken wing flavors that will make Frankie's cry.

One Grand Pancit Party at LA Buddies Kitchen & Grill

I heard of LA Buddies because of their Pancit Panalo dish. As someone who loves pancit more than life itself, I was very curious as to why they would call it that. When I got there, I found out they also serve other wonderful food besides the pancit.

Upon looking at the menu, they serve fusion Asian food even though most of the items are Filipino food. I'm not complaining since I love local treats.

Nachos (P165)

Nachos seems to be everyone's favorite snack. I must say this dish is best ordered while you're hanging out in one of their KTV rooms. Yep, they have two air-conditioned rooms that are P2500 each with P2000 consumable for a maximum of 3 hours. As many as 10 people can actually fit inside so I doubt there will be a time when someone isn't singing for 3 hours.

Crispy Isaw (P170)

It's amazing how they also have streetfood on the menu. I remember how I used to order Isaw when I was a kid. I love how cripsy this dish is. I recommend pairing this dish with an ice cold beer.

Binagoongan (P240)

Pork Binagoongan is one of my favorite Filipino dishes so I always have high expectations for it. After trying LA Buddies' version, I must say it is right up there with one of my favorites. It certainly contains a lot of bagoong and that's always a great thing. Me and other members of my blogger group even got into an argument as to who would be getting the last piece. It was that good!

Panalo Pancit (P215)

We finally got to the part I was waiting for and that is the Pancit Panalo. By the way, that is not a typo and you are really getting all of that at just P215. When I first looked at it, I thought it is worth a lot more than that. It even contains a LOT of meat, seafood and vegetables. Who wouldn't be disappointed with that? They also serve bigger sizes.

Papaitan (P195)

I highly recommend ordering this soup for the rainy weather. It has the right amount of sourness and meat portions to keep you satisfied in more ways than one.

White Chicken with 3 sauces (P300)

It is the Hainanese chicken we have all grown to love. It even comes with three sauces and all of them are good. My compliments to the chef for this one as it is very tasty. I highly recommend ordering this dish while enjoying their live bands. Yes, they have live bands playing there every Friday and Saturday.

Butterfly Tilapia (P260)

Living at Quezon City, this place is a bit far from me considering the traffic. Good thing, they also offer delivery via Lalamove. Therefore, you can enjoy all of their dishes including this huge fish at the comforts of your own home.

Chickapig - The Ultimate Comfort Food Go-to Place

Because of my new job, I always get stressed. After each working day, I need some comfort food to relax myself. It is a good thing I came across Chickapig. From the moment I tried their meaty dishes, I knew this was the place I would go to whenever I wanted some comfort food.

We started the night off with some cheesy nachos. I have to admit it does not get any cheesier than this. It is also extremely affordable so I recommend ordering this one when you are at 8 Seas Food Adventure drinking with some friends.

When you're mad at your boss or something, you would want to let your bad vibes out. That was what these spicy wings were for. I ordered for the spiciest wings available and it did not disappoint me one bit.

Their crispy bagnet with rice is what dreams are made of, literally. I forgot all my problems at work after trying this one out. Even if I wanted to limit myself to just one cup of rice per meal, I had to order an additional cup. Yep, it was that good.

Ca Phe Saigon Opens 3rd Branch in Antipolo

Despite rainy weather, we finally found our way to Ca Phe Saigon's third branch. It is located along Sumulong Highway in Antipolo. The location is great as it is near a church so people who hear mass would go there afterward. There is also ample space for parking.

It is such a coincidence that the restaurant that used to be here is also Vietnamese cuisine. Therefore, some customers though they are the same so they would tell them that they are a new concept. I love the interiors filled with Vietnamese hats though.

The menu is the same from the ones you saw in their Podium and Marikina branches. If you love Vietnamese cuisine like I do then your eyes are going to pop wide with the nice selections they have.

Fresh Rolls (P180)

It doesn't get any healthier than these fresh rolls filled with shrimp and veggies. I can immediately feel how healthy it is after eating one of them. The peanut sauce that came with it is a perfect fit too.

Vietnamese Dry Noodles with Fried Rolls (P130)

When I was in Vietnam, I got to try a lot of authentic Vietnamese dishes. My favorite was Bun Cha and their version did not disappoint one bit. Their backyard is currently under construction because they are building their own herb garden. As a result, their herbs and spices could not be any fresher since it will come from there.

Seafood Noodle Soup (P270)

Vietnamese Beef Noodle Soup (P260)

The most popular Vietnamese dish has got to be the Pho. Thus, it was no surprise how this was their best seller. This dish is actually perfect since it is the rainy season right now. Some customers actually think this is ramen but for me, it is better than ramen.

Shrimp Vietnamese Dry Noodles (P170)

You can choose from a variety of toppings to put in their dry noodles from shrimp to beef. There is also a vegetarian option for the health-conscious ones. We get down to business when you mix all the toppings. It would be hard to top that taste.

Iced Vietnamese Coffee (P100)

The coffee bean is slowly being roasted in their iced coffee. The presentation gets two thumbs up. As for the taste, I am normally not a coffee fan but I have to say it was one of the best iced coffees I have ever tasted. I will definitely be coming back when I'm in the area.

3 Reasons to Try Chickapig

8 Seas Food Adventure opened last year to some great reviews. One of the food stalls that has been making waves is Chickapig. Its concept of bringing you your favorite chicken and pork dishes at low prices is a winner.

 1. It's Affordable

Will you look at all those prices? There isn't a nearby school but those prices are student-friendly. There are even party platters for the entire barkada. They have some budget-friendly rice meals for those who are budget-conscious too. Isn't that great?

 2. It's Cooked Fresh

Chickapig's seasoned cooks will cook the food right in front of you. They will never reheat any of their fresh ingredients. All their foods are fried to perfection and you will know that from the first moment you try it.

 3. It's in a Great Location

Not only is Chickapig near GMA MRT station (pretty accessible!), it is also beside other great concepts at 8 Seas Food Aventure. Yes, you can combine Chickapig's best sellers with the food from the other food stalls there. There is nothing wrong with experimenting as you may just find a great combination by accident. How about combining their Sizzling Cripsy Bagnet with the Mango Lemonade at Kocco? Maybe the combination of their Bagoong Wings and Soogba's Pecho sound enticing? The sky is the limit!

Northern Hope Tours' El Nido Tour A Better the Second Time Around

When I was going to pick a second tour we were going to do at El Nido, I immediately picked Tour A. This tour is very popular for a reason. It goes to four awesome places and there are snorkeling stops in between it. The tour is so good that I didn't mind doing it for the second time. Our first stop was Seven Commando Beach and it was an awesome white sand beach that I absolutely cherished.

Northern Hope cooked us a wonderful lunch and we ate at the boat. We had a lot of seafood, fruits and vegetables. There was no doubt everyone was very full. After eating lunch, I went down the boat for another swim. I have to applaud the tour guides of Northern Hope for always making sure we were safe. They definitely go the extra mile in their efforts and that will not go unnoticed.

After lunch, we headed to the Secret Lagoon. Unfortunately, I did not have any pictures as we signed something to continue its secrecy. Just kidding! Another lesson I learned from last year was to wear aqua shoes as there were many slippery rocks going to the Secret Lagoon. We were also lucky that there were not that many tourists this time since it was rainy season. That won't take away the wonders of the islands in El Nido though.

I never had so much fun kayaking in my life and that's because I was with two awesome friends in Bea and Pat. We kayaked through the Big Lagoon and it was one of those times that I wished would never end. We took countless pictures too. There is no doubt the memories we made there will last a lifetime. When I swam through the Big Lagoon last year, I knew that was a big mistake. It is indeed better to kayak around it. Even if you're a good swimmer, you're going to get tired.
