The Ups and Downs of Northern Hope Tour's El Nido Tour A and C
No El Nido trip is complete without doing the different tours. Recently, I went to El Nido for the first time and decided to book Tours A & C with Northern Hope Tours. For this review, I've decided to bring back the Ups and Downs. For those who are not familiar with it, it's where I give the good bits an up and the bad bits a down. Also, I decided to combine some places we went at Tour A with some places we went to at Tour C. Anyway, I'm sure you're very excited so without further adieu, lets up some downs:
Helicopter Beach and Seven Commando Beach
The first parts of both Tour A and C is without a doubt the best. Both Helicopter Island and Seven Commando Beach are crystal clear white sand beaches I could spend hours at. Therefore, this gets a giant up. There are some refreshments available at the islands too. Fact: Helicopter Island is named that way because it is shaped like a helicopter.
Matinloc Shrine
For a wonderful view, Matinloc Shrine is the place to be. Unfortunately, you'll need to pay 100 pesos to enter. When we got there, it wasn't that crowded because most tourists aren't keen on paying an entrance free. Was the P100 worth it? Not really. Down!
Secret Lagoon, Small Lagoon and Big Lagoon
Tour A will let you explore 3 lagoons. It was actually my first time in a lagoon and what an experience it was. Be reminded there are parts that get a little rocky so it's better to be in water shoes. By the way, the big lagoon is so huge that I wasn't able to explore the entire thing. If you easily get tired like me, it's highly recommended to explore the lagoons using a kayak. What an adventurous time it was! Up!
Hidden Beach and Secret Beach
One of the most known attractions of El Nido are the Hidden and Secret Beaches. Since they're hidden gems, you'll have no choice but to swim to get there. It's all worth it when you get there though. You're going to be glad you're in the surroundings of Mother Nature's work of arts. Up!
Talisay Beach and Simizu Island
Both tours include yummy island style lunch and we had them at small islands Shimizu Island and Talisay Beach. Despite being places where we just had lunch, they were pretty nice. Believe it or not, they were great places to take lots of pictures too. Up!
The Crew
The Northern Hope Tours team did a very good job in taking care of us. Ryan, the tour guide, was also very entertaining with his spot-on jokes and humorous hugot lines. My favorite was when he said, "I got 3 jokes. Joke joke joke!." The rest of the crew took care of those who didn't know how to swim by dragging their life vests to the boat or to the destination whenever they saw one of us floating in the sea. I highly commend their crew on a job well done so I give them a humongous up.
Final Tally
Up - 5 Down - 1
Tour A is P1200 per person that already includes lunch, mask & snorkel, life vests and guides. It includes stops to Big Lagoon, Small Lagoon, Simizu Island, Secret Lagoon and 7 Commandos Beach. The tour is from 9 AM to 4 PM.
Tour C is P1500 per person and also includes lunch, life vests, snorkeling gear and guides. It includes stops to Talisay Beach, Helicopter Island, Hidden Beach, Secret Beach,

Multimillion Dollar Casinos Opening in El Nido
"Whatever you can do, I can do better."
That seems to be the quote in the mind of Palawan mayor Nieves Cabumalda-Rosemto after she approved the construction of a series of casinos in El Nido. "Magkakaroon din sa Boracay edi magkaroon na din sa Palawan. She said. "Hindi naman sa gumagaya kami. Feeling ko yan ang uso ngayon."
To nobody's surprise, the palace approved of this project.
"Aba, bakit hinde?" President Duwerte exclaimed. "Kung matutuwa ang mga Pilipino at mga poreyner edi ituloy na yan."
Meanwhile, tourists visiting at El Nido can expect a new type of tour. Tour companies are fixing a new tour called "Tour $." In this tour, you won't be riding a boat to go to different islands and lagoons.
Instead, you'll be casino hopping. Backpackers who are looking to meet other travelers are not advised to join this tour. It's expected to be composed of mostly retired old men with tummies the size of The Big Lagoon.
"It's a tour like you've never experienced." tour guide Joyce Parungao said. "You'll be snorkeling under boodles of cash."
As I'm typing this, activists are already on their way to the streets to stage a rally to try and do something about this project. Their slogans all read one thing and that's........
HAPPY APRIL FOOL'S DAY!
Dusit Hospitality Management College Opening Soon at Bonifacio Global City
A new larger than life cooking school will soon rise at the Bonifacio Global City beside SM Aura. The Dusit Hospitality Management College promises to be the most technologically advanced culinary school in the metro. It's a good thing I was lucky enough to be invited to the preview of this project. The school's Managing Director, Lars Eltvik was even on hand to give a background on the college which is expected to launch in late August.
It turns out the building is not only composed of a school but a hotel too. The school itself has many amenities including a place where the students can chill and meet other students. There's also an open kitchen coffee shop that serves phenomenal food. Truth be told, I'm very excited for the school to open. It will give great opportunities to people who want to learn to cook. The college even has experts from its partner institutions all over the world coming over to share their expertise.
Afterwards, Dusit Hospitality Management College's Director of Culinary Arts, Chef Cyrille Soenen gave a cooking demo on the making of Foie Gras. Of course, the best part about the demo was sampling the food. =D
Who joined Chef Cyrille? None other than Actor/Director Joel Torre. How ironic is it that he's on the job here? When it comes to whipping up good food, consider Chef Cyrille as a perfectionist. With his long list of accomplishments, he's the best choice to be the director of DHMC.
Joel Torre told us he was planning on becoming a chef as his second career when he retires in the showbiz industry. It's not a bad decision as lots of showbiz personalities end up starting their own restaurants after learning how to cook. Who knows? You may become a successful entrepreneur after learning how to cook at DHMC.
The following is the official press release:
