Dinner with Zodians at Burgers & Brewskies

When I got an invitation from Zodio to have dinner with them at Burgers & Brewskies, I knew I was going to hit two birds with one stone because I was going to learn about Zodio and taste the food at Burgers & Brewskies.  I expected the food to at Burgers & Brewskies to be good since I love mouth watering burgers.  However, I did not expected it to be THIS GOOD.

Burgers & Brewskies don't serve the usual frozen burger patty with the usual toppings of onions, pickles, mushrooms, lettuce and tomatoes.  Their burgers are made fresh everyday with 100% imported beef.  Michael Floro, Marc Nocon and Francis Balbarin all shared the same love for gourmet burgers, craft beers and cookouts.  They always had a cookout and it was the dream of Francis to put up a burger joint.  When a space became available at Burgos Circle, the three friends capitalized on the opportunity and Burgers & Brewskies was born last October 25.

Salt and Pepper (P195)

Salt and Pepper is a new flavor and Chef Mark told us it was for the Chinese New Year.  It tasted fine with its Chinese five spices plus the sweet & spicy dip.

Sesame Sriracha (P195)

For the wings, Sesame Sriracha is their specialty flavor.  I could understand why since the combination of honey and sesame mixed with sriracha hot sauce is enough to satisfy anybody's cravings.

Cuban Missile (P120)

The perfect dish to go along with their wings is the Cuban Missile.  It is sweet corn slithered with mayo and spiced shredded cheese.  It is pretty much recommended to have this one shredded.

Call the Nurse (P280)

Who would have ever thought that mac & cheese fits in perfectly in a burger?  That is certainly the case here as you may have to call the nurse not to take care of you but to share this awesome burger with honey sriracha bacon and seared mac & cheese.

Kandi (P265)

Don't worry, there are no candies in this burger.  The reason why the burger is named like that is because of the candied bacon which I really enjoyed.  The b&b cheese sauce, onion confit and roasted garlic aioli rounded up the rest of the ingredients.

Chef Mark sliced what is known as the Breakfast Burger.  There were numerous dishes that were served to us but have yet to appear on the menu.  I can only imagine how lucky we were when we got first dibs on these yummy dishes.

The Breakfast Burger contained bacon, cheese, burger, lettuce and a sunny side up egg that is hidden underneath those potato chips bits.  It was without a doubt the best burger of the night and something worth coming back for.

In a twist to the classic clubhouse sandwich, this one was called the Sinwich.  You certainly would be guilty to your diet when you eat this because it is loaded with bacon, cheese and potato chips.

Just like what Chef Mark told us, "Anything with bacon is good".  That explains why this still to be named ice cream concoction has bacon bits on top of vanilla ice cream.  It is one of those sweet treats that would make you want to get one scoop after another.

I have to thank the Zodians for such a wonderful dinner.  For those who don't know, Zodio is a website where everything from restaurants, spas, jewelry shops, ATM machines and even gas stations are reviewed.  It gives you a personal view from Zodians of what's hot and what's not in the country.  They also have an app which you can download so you can create your own account and check in at the places you go.  You can also let your voice be heard and review that place if they gave good service or not.

Jaw Dropping dance performances at Sayaw Manila 10

#10Q was trending all night as the sold out crowd at the Star Theater watched in awe at the entertaining dance performances by the numerous dance groups who performed at Sayaw Manila 10.

There was comedy in the intermission as the Pickup Boys were introduced.  They were doing cool dance moves while there was a contest going on.  They also acted out the names of the media sponsors including my blog.  The only sad thing was I failed to record the part when they acted out my blog name.

It was also a benefit event for the Makulay Foundation as college based dance groups and professional dance troupes give a tribute to a decade of Sayaw Manila performances.

UP Manila's Indayog Dance Varsity knew how to please the crowd when they were dressed up in red.  They were also the organizers of the event and I have to applaud how everything was organized from the moment the curtain opened up until it closed.  They certainly showed why they consistently placed in various street dance battles.

Who could forget the hip hop themed dance numbers here?  I am a fan of R & B music so it was something I appreciated.  I certainly did not miss a beat when the dance moves went from one dancer to another.

Most of the dance performances gave homage to student life as it made me miss being a student.  They gave new meaning to everything that happened in the school setting including dealing with a terror professor, starting with your first love and hating homework.

This dance number was inspired by Alice in Wonderland but it did not have a good ending as Alice suffered for stealing the queen's scepter.  Their costumers were wonderful though and the villain really played his part well.

In the second to last dance number, it was a hilarious portrayal of a gay person who tried to hide the truth from his father.  It was cool how his numerous personalities literally came out of the closet.  I found myself dancing as well when they were dancing to "Bongga ka Day" and "Sirena".

The show ended with a very special dance number as everyone who performed came on stage and even scattered throughout the crowd while dancing to the beat of the Grammy winning song "Can't Hold us".  It was indeed one of those events that left me speechless and wanting a lot more.  Bring on Sayaw Manila 11!

Swensens introduces the Waffle Basket Sundae

I am a fan of ice cream combined with waffles so I was delighted when I found out Swensens introduced the Waffle Basket Sundae at only P120 each.  They also come in five different flavors that will surely tickle your sweet tooth.

Super Bowl Nutty Almond

The ice cream in this flavor is almond praline which is delight vanilla with butterscotch marble and praline almonds.  It is topped off with bananas and caramel syrup with cherry on top.  This was without a doubt my favorite of the bunch.

Super Bowl Choco

Chocolate lovers will love the fact that this one is loaded with brownies on top of chocolate ice cream.  It certainly gives you that chocolatey goodness that most kids love.

Super Bowl M&M

Who does not like M&Ms?  This one also has bananas and vanilla ice cream underneath.  It is one yummy treat.

Super Bowl Strawberry

Everyone loves strawberry and this bowl is loaded with cherries, bananas and almonds on top of strawberry ice cream.  What a sweet treat.

Super Bowl Sweet Corn Coco

We were given a preview of this one that has not been released on the menu.  I love sweet corn so it was no surprise how much I loved this flavor.

Bottoms Up 2014 a grand success

The year is just getting started but Bottoms Up 2014 has to be right up there as one of the biggest parties of the year.  It was organized by UP Travel Society and hosted by Sam YG, one of the DJs of Boys Night Out.

Aldous ate the World was a proud media sponsor of this wild event as it went to place I never thought possible.  When i arrived, the line was very long for the tickets so you can tell how a lot of people wanted to get in the party.

It did not take long for Sam YG to hit the stage and the program started:

The first game was Shot til you Drop.  It involved two groups of guys competing against each other and whichever group drinks the shots the fastest gets the prize.  Since it was the first game, a lot of people wanted in the game.  They had a hard time picking the contestants out of the many people who wanted but it had to be done.

The second game was Beer Job.  It was real funny as a beer bottle was positioned between the legs of guys who were sitting down and girls had to drink the beer using a straw and the first one who finishes gets the win.

Everyone had a different thing in mind when the saw the girls kneeling down while drinking the beer bottle and the guys pretending like they were enjoying it.  Sam YG said it best when he said:

"Hindi lahat ng nakaluhod ay nagdadasal"

The person who had the time of his life during Bottoms Up 2014 was without a doubt the guy sitting in the center of the stage during the 3rd game Lap Dance.  All the guys in the room including Sam YG himself would love to exchange places with this lucky bloke.

Everybody in the building already knew what the objective of the game is even though Sam YG had to pull in two girls to make a demonstration.  It just meant a LOT of girls did lap dances for us all because it included two girls who had to challenge the winner after a winner was declared.

It was hands down the best game of the night and I am sure the guy in the middle couldn't agree more.

The final game of the night was MOMOL (make out make out lang) where 3 couples joined in on stage.  The wildest MOMOL takes home the prize and the crowd gets to decide the winner.  Everyone practically were on their feet when Sam YG told everyone that it was time to switch partners (He was kidding of course).

The games came to a close after that but the party was just getting started.  Sam YG led everyone to a toast to a good night ahead of everyone.

There was no doubt all these people enjoyed Bottoms Up 2014.  I can't wait for next year!
