12 Reasons to dine at 12 Monkeys

The newest place to hang out is 12 Monkeys located at Century City Mall.  I just hosted a media event not too long ago and I still can't stop raving about this place.  Now, I have not one, not two, not three (sorry LeBron) but 12 reasons why you should dine at 12 Monkeys:

1) Chef Pete Ayson in the House

If you are a foodie and you don't know Chef Pete Ayson then you have to knock yourself out.  This guy is the same chef behind Clawdaddy, Liberty Steakhouse, Crustasia and Red Crab just to name a few.  He was the one who made the menu and is the main chef at 12 Monkeys.  It is no surprise how the owners are proud of their food.  It's because they have a big name chef behind it.

2) An All Star cast of Owners

12 Monkeys is named that way because it has 12 partners.  The partners are not just any average Joe as they are recognizable names in their respective fields.  Music fans will be star struck at Chito Miranda of Parokya ni Edgar and Champ Lui Po of Hale (Don't forget Champ's girlfriend fashion icon Laureen Uy).  Sports fans would recognize Jinno Rufino of BTV/Solar Sports and Neil Arce, a professional poker player. Night life people would recognize GP Reyes (71 Gramercy), Neil Paras (Big Bad Wolf) , JM Rodriguez (Prive) and Keith Haw.  Foodies would recognize Raymond Magdaluyo (Sumo Sam), Jerico Salonga (Vask) and Ivan Zalameda (Beso Cucina Vinoteka).  Of course, who wouldn't recognize DJ Tony Toni of Boys Night Out? I would always prank call that show. Oops!

3) Don't miss out on sports

12 Monkeys was designed beautifully and there are TVs scattered all over the place.  Because of that, you won't miss the games of your favorite teams whether it is the world cup, NBA finals or the UA&P games.

4) Midnight in Pares

DJ Keith's favorite dish is also my favorite and the other bloggers who were with me that night nodded in approval.  Midnight in Pares (P290) has tender braised beef, tamagao, garlic rice and homemade chili sauce.

5) Local Bands

The list of local bands who have performed at 12 Monkeys include Side A, Kamikazee, Parokya ni Edgar and many more.  The list just keeps on getting bigger as time passes by.  It makes 12 Monkeys a nice place to unwind while listening to some OPM being performed live.  Of course, you must reserve your table as slots do run out fast.

6) Picha Pie

All 12 owners were given a task and that is to come up with their most creative pizza.  Don't look now but the pizza names alone will drive your curiosity.

Ivan's Palabok Pizza (P350) is an exclusive to 12 Monkeys and it will only be a matter of time before cheap versions would start to come out.  The pizza has shrimp sauce, calamari, boiled egg, chicharon, goat cheese and grilled shrimp.

I have to thank the owner that came up with The Rock'A Feller Pizza (P350)Oyster lovers would love this as baked oysters are paired up with parmesan cheese, creamed spinach and mozzarella.

Who loves sisig? Raise your hands! Oh my I got both my hands and feet up.  I love everything about the Sisig Tribute (P320).  With pork sisig, mozarella, mayonnaise and quail eggs in it, what's not to love?

7) Monkey Business every Fridays

Friday is DJ Keith Haw's night as he electrifies the crowd with his brand of music.  He also guest DJs at the top clubs in the country like 71 Gramercy , Hyve, Aracama and Prive so his music is something to really rock to.  See you when I hit the dance floor, Mr. KBH.

8)  The Best Balut in the Country

St. Peter's Eggs is actually a new twist to Filipino favorite "balut".  The balut is mixed with Pampanga crab fat and garlic chili butter sauce.  One order is actually good for 2 to 3 people but it is so good that this one is just good for me only.

9)  Super Service

I really have to praise the delightful service by the staff at 12 Monkeys.  Mad props to whoever it was that trained them because they sure do know how to please a customer.  You don't even have to call their attention as you just look at them and they will tend to whatever it is you need.

10) A Sweet Ending

It was the perfect ending to a perfect meal.  The Crepe Cake (P350) is simply to die for.  It was so good that I thought I died and went to heaven.

11) The Chicken Wings

I simply couldn't resist the temptation on the Flying Wings (P390).  Not only did I touch the birdie, I also enjoyed it and concluded that their wings are underrated but it can compete with the wings of restaurants whose wings are their specialty.  To steal a line from DJ Tony, their chicken wings is saraaap.

12)  Located at the newest city in Makati

12 Monkeys is located at the newest mall in Makati, Century City mall.  Apart from Century City mall, Century City (owned by Century properties) also has 4 high rise condominiums and an outpatient medical-IT building.  It is certainly a city that is great to live in.

This post is really nicely written. You got me at the first reason. Those restaurants are known for great food so anything by Chef Ayson must be incredibly good. :)
