Stars behind the Bar at Friday's

PR Agency Perk Comm handled the registration very well.  TGI Friday's of the Bistro group of restaurants now has an updated bar list that includes local bottled beer (P75) and beer by the bucket (P350).  Cocktails such as Bahama Mama, 77 Sunset Strip and Kamikaze are also going to be available starting from only P125.

We were served awesome food and drinks including nachos, potato balls, chicken strips and chicken wraps.  Regular customers better watch out for the Red Card because it is going to be available by the first week of April.  You can avail of a buy one take one on cocktails every Thursday with the use of this card.

Up next, the stars behind the bar made their way to center stage.  Aldrin "The One" Javar, Genrev "The Revolution" Bacasno, Gino "The Bomb" Simbillo, Junjun "The Entertainer" Marcelo, Michael "Unstoppable" Rabago and Ronilo "Showstopper" Bautista all lived up to their nicknames as they entertained the crowd with their array of tricks.  Each bartender accomplished something in his own life that made him a star.  Aldrin is a TESDA bartending contest winner, Genrev was the champion in last year's TGI Friday's "Shake, Rattle and Pour Bartending Championship", Gino was a champion in a Friday's sponsored competiton and Junjun was handpicked by the DoT in promoting "It's more fun in the Philippines" in Dubai and India.  Meanwhile, Michael and Ronilo both wanted to become the best bartender and they would not let anybody stop them from achieving that goal.

Rufo's : More than just Tapa

I just could not refuse when I got an invitation from Wazzup Pilipinas to host a food tasting event for Rufo's located at Pearl Drive near UA&P and Lourdes school.  We got to interview the operations manager Ms. Elle and she obliged to answer all of our questions.  Believe it or not, this is my first time at Rufo's and it is a wonder how all this time I thought they were serving only Tapa.

I was so wrong because they are more than just your average tapa themed restaurant even though that is their specialty which is "masarap kahit walang sauce".

Pork BBQ (P94)

Bulalo (P130)

Fish Crackers

I really enjoyed all the food they served.  The food here is very affordable and I am punching myself in the head for not yet trying Rufo's.  It looks like I really missed half of my life when I decided to always pass on eating at Rufo's despite their many branches.

Chopsuey (P75)

 Crispy Danggit (P89)

Pork Chops (P119)

Mushroom Adobo (P104)

Liempo (P130)

Sizzling T-Bone Steak (P167)

Spaghetti (P59)

Sizzling Sisig (P140)

Creamy Fruit Fiesta (P35)

Leche Flan (P39)

I really dug their leche flan.  It is one dessert that deserves a special mention.  Among the food that were served, I recommend Sizzling Sisig and Sizzling T-Bone steak.

Rufo's is known to be fast casual because they serve fast food and have casual service.  For those interested, the overall price you will pay to franchise a Rufo's branch is 5-6 M.  This branch is not a franchised one though because it is company owned and it opened last June of 2012.  They also deliver with a 200 minimum order.

Saint's Alp BGC meeting

I must admit I came to this food tasting event at Saint's Alp BGC with a full stomach already.  However, that did not stop me from seeing if they had any good food since I am such a lover of milk tea.  First, the drinks came up and it included Lychee BT with Nata, Almond MT and Choco Ice Blended.  I got to taste a little of each drink and as expected, I enjoyed Almond milk tea the most.

The appetizers were Tempura Cheese Balls, Matcha Toast and Tofu Salad.  It was a shame how all of us already came from previous food tasting events because the food were all good.  In fact, these are snacks that I could order and spend hours surfing the net at Saint's Alp because of their high speed Internet.

Chicken Paprika Sandwich, Burger Chop Sandwich and carbonara headed our way next.  I don't know if it was just me or maybe the breads were not freshly cooked.  That is actually a major factor I would take a look at whenever I judge sandwiches so I was really let down.

Large Chicken Breast and Loff Spareribs were our main course.  I have to admit they really saved the best for last because the meat was indeed tender.  I think these meat dishes would go really well if served with rice but I think they are for pica-pica.    Overall, it was a nice dinner and I think I will be back soon when I do get back to the BGC area which is not often.

Budget friendly food at Capreal

We were welcomed by Capreal Ristorante general manager Joana Gocheco to her restaurant along Maria Clara street near Banawe.  It is a family restaurant and the meals are very affordable.

Iced Tea (P75)

Mexican Taco Salad (P160)

Breakfast Set

Chicken Quesadillas (P195)

The Chicken Quesadillas was very impressive and it was just an appetizer.  That meant the best has yet to come which got us excited.

French Toast

Jambalaya (P320)

Asado Wanton (P140)

Joanna told us how customers would always suggest for them to have soup so they granted those wishes.

Salmon Teriyaki (P275)

This one is a new twist to salmon lovers.  It is definitely recommended for seafood lovers.

Glazed Pork Spareribs (P195)

This is one of their best sellers and I quickly found out why.  It was worth a second try.

 Chicken Pork Adobo

Chicken Pork Adobo was a big hit among their senior citizen customers because of its tender meat.

Cajun Seafood Pasta

Gambasetti (P165)

Gambasetti was a little spicy but that does not mean I did not enjoy it.  Capreal also offers a buffet option and would include choices from the menu for each set..

Capreal also gave us a car sticker and if they saw that sticker on my car then I get a free side dish of my choosing.  Now, that is cool.  This restaurant is so affordable and delicious at the same time that I will definitely come back here since it is also near my place.

See you soon, Capreal!
