Sweet Mexican Food by Chef Robbie Goco

Achiote Tequeria located at Rockwell Mall is named after the ingredient that sets apart Mexican food from Filipino food.  We were lucky enough to be graced upon by the presence of Chef Robbie Goco.  He is the brains behind one of the most popular restaurants in the country, Cyma.  He is known for whipping up delicious food that is priced high but very much worth the price.  He revealed that his secret for being able to deliver delicious food is to always use the freshest ingredients so even if the chef makes a mistake, the food is still good.

Chef Robbie Goco put himself in the shoes of a Mexican and imagined how he would make Mexican food.  It was a great idea that worked because all of the Mexican food in his restaurant were good.  Achiote Tequeria is all about celebrating Mexican street food.  Trust me, I have never tasted street food that was this good.

The food that were served to us included Ceviche with everything on it, a fully dressed guacamole, Fish Tacos, Taqueria Salad, Fundido Verde, Achiote Burritos, Nachos and Margarita.  At the end of the event, my tummy became two times larger.

His dessert was called a major accident.  He actually made it by mistake.  I wonder how many chefs can accidentally make something that delicious.  It was like a combination of dulce de leche and apple pie.

Chef Goco shows us the rice that was used in his burritos.  It was as healthy as brown rice.  I think it was called Bulvar but I am not so sure.  It is one of those ingredients that can't be found in other Mexican restaurants other than Achiote Tequeria.

We were all star struck by the presence of Chef Robbie Goco.  An opportunity to be able to talk to a famous chef like that does not happen often.  We were also graced by the presence of his lovely wife.  She looks stunning and we wondered why.  Chef Goco quickly claimed "She does not like my food" to which got a good laugh from me.

My favorite dish among those that were served to us was this Mushroom Quesadillas.  It tastes as good as it looks.

This was one gastronomic adventure I would never forget since it was one of those rare food tasting events where I ate a lot.  I would recommend this restaurant to all the Mexican food lovers out there.
