Four Seasons of Loneliness

It was definitely one of the worst hotel buffets I have ever tasted as Manila Pavillon's Seasons was utterly disappointing.  I saw in reviews I read most people who tried it actually used a voucher to get the buffet at half the price.  However, I don't think they got a good deal as the buffet was that bad.

I found myself circling around the buffets to see if I can put something on my plate.  Sadly, I could not find much food I like which means the buffet contains bad choices despite being priced at 1500 net per person.

On my first plate, I had turkey, roast beef and siomai.  The girls who were supposed to cut the turkey had a hard time doing it so I assumed they were new.  The meat did not taste like new but I kind of expected that since they were probably not expecting a lot of people to eat today.

I put pancit, lumpia gulay and squid tempura on this plate.  I still can't believe they did not have shrimp tempura despite the high price.  There was nothing good to talk about any of the food that I ate because they all tasted bland.  I was beginning to suspect they had mostly leftover food but this was a 3 or 4 star hotel.

The only bright spots in the buffet were the pumpkin and the mango crepe.  I actually liked the mango crepe and it was not disappointing like the rest of the buffet choices.

I actually felt sorry for the people who came to this buffet and paid the full price like I did.  The day I will come back to this restaurant is the day I forget this experience I had with them which won't be a while.

A Walk down New Orleans

Murray's New Orleans Bourbon Street Ribs, Steaks and Oysters located at 2/F Resorts World Manila is the lone American restaurant in the mall.

Their Chicken with Mushroom was only fit for one person.  It only had two pieces so I was not happy with that.  The taste was okay but it isn't for two people.

I loved every bit of this free appetizer that was given to us.  It was free bread and it goes well with butter. We ended up ordering another complimentary bread because its very delicious.

New Orleans Famous Baby Back Ribs (698)

New Orleans Jambalaya on the Bayou (465)

This jambalaya is perfect for people who love it spicy.  However, I did not know it was actually spicy so I called the waiter and the waiter said Jambalaya in English is spicy.  I don't know what Jambalaya means but I don't think that's true.

This dish is called Chofon.  It was basically litson on top of rice.  I loved the way they cooked this dish.

                                          Paul Prudhom's Shrimp Pasta (375)

                                                Southern Buttered Fried Chicken (365)

Their fried chicken is boneless and even had corn muffin. Yummy!

Black Angus Rib Eye 12 oz (1499)

I loved their steak especially when it is well done.  The sauce of the steak went well with the meat.

                                                            Tyler Oyster Pasta (420)

It is pretty obvious this restaurant is pricey but that is quite normal for an American restaurant.  However, they had quality service and good food which is what I am looking for in a high class restaurant.  I definitely recommend everyone to try Murray's New Orleans Steaks.

Pigging out at Mezza Norte Part 1

I'm very thankful that Mercato found its way to Techno Hub because now I can enjoy street food at a much nearer place.  They titled it Mezza Norte which is every Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 6 PM to 3 AM.  I decided to pig out like there is no tommorow since I am having a hard time picking a food stall to buy food from.

I am such a burger fanatic so I tried the Bacon Mushroom Melt (PHP200) of UNO Burgers.  I also ordered their Cheezy Fries (PHP80) but that was not enough to satisfy my hunger.  By the way, both were good.

I noticed a lot of people going here so I decided to order Baked Beef Ribs but it was out of stock so I had to settle for Baked Pork Ribs.  It was nice as I finished it in a hurry.

We had two concoctions made by Mocktail Republic.  I understand they won the Ultimate Taste Test since it says so in their booth.  Both of our drinks were superb and were worth the price at 68 pesos.

I saw one cup of Merry Moo is priced at only 75 pesos so I decided to go for green tea flavor.  I actually saw they have bacon ice cream so I had a free taste of it.

Tuguegarao's Best pancit had me curious so I ordered their chicken flavor.  I have to admit their pancit goes well with rice meals from other food stalls.

Words can't describe how good the Vigan Empanada was.  One piece just is not enough to satisfy one's craving for their empanada.

I loved Chef Anton's Roast Turkey with Rice (PHP120).  I actually ordered this because my wife wanted more rice.  I ordered this after I already ate a ton of food so I did not eat much rice.

Fancy a food trip?  Mezza Norte is the place to be.

Be back next week......

A European style Christmas Celebration

I would never forget the moment I entered that door to Christkindlmarket because it was definitely a one of a kind experience.  They let us experience a Christmas celebration like no other because it was European style with European themed concessionaires at the bazaar.

You have to pay 200 pesos to get in and you will be given a boarding pass which is a very good idea.  It will actually make you feel like you are really in Europe when you enter the bazaar.

This nice fellow offered anyone to complete the map puzzle of Europe for a prize.  Whoever does it in 3 minutes or less would get a bag or CD.  If you go more than that then you get a prize anyway.  I ended up doing it for 10 minutes so I snagged a key chain.

The bread mixed with this cheese is awesome.  I kept on passing by and taking a lot of their free samples.

Were you naughty or nice?  Maybe you should tell that to Santa himself as you can take a picture of him here.  It was my first time meeting Santa so I was tempted to let him sit on my lap but maybe next year.

The mime decided to entertain us by dancing to some popular songs from Rihanna and 2NE1. He succeeded in making the little kids laugh as mimes can still become entertaining for people of all ages.

When we arrived, there was a magic show at center stage.  The magicians were good and it looked like they were used to performing.

What are you waiting for?

This European type of Christmas celebration is until Sunday so join in the festivities.  You can even do a European type of Christmas shopping if you wish.
